This course will assist the student in understanding & complying with federal regulations & national recommendations concerning emergency medical response to hazardous materials incidents.
NFA005 EMERGENCY RESPONSE TO TERRORISM: BASIC CONCEPTS Designed to provide students with a general understanding & recognition of terrorism, defensive considerations (biological, nuclear, incendiary, chemical, & explosive), as well as command & contrl issues associated with criminal incidents. When an incident occurs, the student will be able to recognize & implement self-prtective measures; secure the scene; complete appropriate notifications to local, state, & federal authorities; & assist in completing a smooth transition from emergency to recovery & termination operations.
NFA006 EMERGENCY RESPONSE TO TERRORISM: TACTICAL CONSIDERATIONS: COMPANY OFFICER This course is designed to build upon the existing knowledge & skills of the first-responding supervisor from the Emergency Response to Terrorism: Basic Concepts course or Emergency response to Tterrorism: self-Study Guide. The students will be trained in security considerations, identifying signs of terrorism, anticipaating unusual response circumstances, assessing information, & initiating self-protection actions.
NFA007 EMERGENCY RESPONSE TO TERRORISM: TACTICAL CONSIDERATIONS: EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES This course is designed for first-on0the-scene responding EMS personnel with the responsibility to render patient care to victims of terrorist incidents. The students will be trained in security considerations, identifying signs of terrorism, anticipating unusual response circumstances, assessing information, & initiating self-protection actions. They also will apply their knowledge about response to a terrorist event, provide patient care, identify & preserve evidence, manage site safety, document the event, & debrief personnel.
NFA008 EMERGENCY RESPONSE TO TERRORISM: TACTICAL CONSIDERATIONS: HAZARDOUS MATERIALS This course is designed for first-on-the-scene responding hazardous materials technician or persons who have the responsibility of developing initial hazardous materials tactical considerations. The students will be trainined in security considerations, identifying signs of terrorism, anticipating unusual response circumstances, assessing information, & initiating self-protection actions. They also will apply their knowledge about responding to a terrorist event, managing site safety, documenting the event, & debriefing personnel.
NFA009 INCIDENT SAFETY OFFICER VIDEO INCLUDED This course examines the Safety Officer's role at emergency response situations. A specific focus on operations within Incident Command System (ICS) as a Safety Officer is a main theme.
NFA010 INCIDENT COMMAND SYSTEM FOR EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES VIDEO INCLUDED Students will be intorduced to the concepts of EMS-specific ICS through lecture & guided discussion. They will use scenarios, case studies, graphics, audiovisuals, & role play to demonstrate understanding of the concepts. Students will be required to complete the NFA self-study module Incident Command System before this course.

NFA015 MANAGING IN A CHANGING ENVIRONMENT Managing in a Changing Environment; the second of 2 courses in the subject area of midlevel management covers the skills & techniques midlevel managers will need to provide leadership & direction for their departments. Content includes an overview of significant economic, social, political , & technological influences affecting fire service operations. Students will have the opportunity to identify & relate these influences to their personal & professional situations; & to practice strategies for managing changes resulting from those influences.
NFA016 SHAPING THE FUTURE Shaping the Future,: the first of 2 courses in the subject area of mid-level management covers the skills & techniques midlevel managers will need to provide leadersip & direction for their departments. The first module focuses on identifying opportunities &/or problems. Topics include environmental scanning, paradigm shifts, & methods for reframing problems accurately. The second module deals with group problem-solving techniques. The third module explains the need to quantify, justify, & communicate decisions so they will be implemented effectively. Managing change will be discussed in the final module. Topics include why people resist change, overcoming that resistance, & monitoring & evaluating the change before, during, & after its implementation.
NFA017 MANAGING COMPANY TACTICAL OPERATIONS: TACTICS VIDEO INCLUDED Tacics is the 3rd tin the MCTO series designed to develop the company officer's supervisory & management capabilities in structural fire operations. Key content includes the topic areas of rescue & ventilation, confinement & extinguishment, water supply, exposures & defensive operations, & salvage, overhaul, & support.
